ARTIST'S COMMENT: Fort Davis was one of the string of frontier forts across West Texas. The original adobe buildings have been excavated and in some cases, restored. Now a national historic site, the fort shows an insightful archaeological combination of resortation to the way it once looked neighbored by unrestored ruins (such as these) that let visitors feel they are walking into history. I love to paint adobe, and adobe ruins are even more interesting to me.
