Artist's comment: One May morning I shouldered my plein air backpack. The sun, already hot as it leaked over the Eastern ridgeline, discouraged much of a hike, especially in these drought conditions. I decided to make my painting about the sun, with its ribbons of golden light streaming down-mountain across dry grass. The chartreuse glow on the volcanic rock tower was a bonus. And who says droughts are drab?"
