Lost Mine Trail high in the Chisos Basin of Big Bend National Park is a spectacular hike. Here on the saddle about halfway up, we stopped to take in the colors of the Texas mountains, where prickly pear cactus grows like small trees and trees scramble to touch the blue southwestern sky. In this painting, yellow broomweed dots the red cliffs that catch the sunlight and glow with inner light.
